Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) Administrator is responsible for overseeing and directing the overall clinical operations of the healthcare facility or department. This role combines advanced nursing expertise with administrative leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care regulatory compliance and efficient operations. The RN Administrator is also responsible for managing clinical staff improving patient care protocols and collaborating with other leadership teams to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Oversight:
Oversee clinical operations within the facility ensuring all aspects of patient care meet high standards of safety and quality.
Supervise mentor and evaluate nursing staff to ensure optimal performance and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with medical and administrative teams to develop implement and evaluate patient care protocols procedures and best practices.
Assist in the development of care plans and provide clinical expertise to support medical decisions.
Monitor patient outcomes and identify areas for improvement to enhance patient satisfaction and care quality.
Operational Management:
Ensure efficient workflow and smooth daily operations of clinical areas including staffing scheduling and supply management.
Develop and enforce policies and procedures that promote safe and effective care delivery.
Coordinate with various departments (e.g. HR IT and administration) to ensure seamless integration of clinical and non-clinical functions.
Manage budgets for clinical operations ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of care.
Monitor and analyze clinical performance metrics and implement improvements where necessary.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with all local state and federal regulations including HIPAA OSHA and Joint Commission standards.
Lead efforts to maintain accreditation and certification for the facility.
Implement and maintain safety and infection control protocols in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.
Oversee incident reporting investigations and corrective actions to minimize risk and improve safety.
Staff Development & Training:
Oversee the recruitment onboarding and ongoing education of clinical staff.
Develop and conduct regular training programs to ensure staff stay updated on clinical guidelines compliance standards and patient care innovations.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching mentoring and corrective action plans when necessary.
Strategic Planning & Collaboration:
Work closely with the executive leadership team to set and achieve long-term organizational goals.
Contribute to the development of the facilitys strategic plan particularly in relation to clinical care quality improvement and patient satisfaction.
Foster a collaborative team-oriented environment among clinical staff administrative personnel and other departments.
Participate in board meetings or senior leadership meetings to provide input on clinical initiatives quality improvement and patient care strategies.
Patient and Family Engagement:
Act as a point of contact for patient and family concerns ensuring that issues are addressed promptly and appropriately.
Develop patient satisfaction programs and conduct regular surveys to gauge patient feedback and improve service delivery.
Advocate for patient rights and ensure that care is delivered with respect dignity and compassion.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) Licensein TN
Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN)
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in a leadership or administrative role.
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations including HIPAA OSHA and clinical accreditation standards.
Excellent communication leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Proven experience in clinical management operations or healthcare administration.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement changes in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in nursing (BSN) Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA)
Previous experience in a healthcare administrator role or in a similar capacity (e.g. Director of Nursing).
Certification in healthcare management (e.g. Certified Medical Practice Executive - CMPE or similar credentials).
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software.
