Donor Relations Officer

Position Summary
Shorter University is seeking a Christ-centered goal-oriented fundraising professional to serve as Donor Relations Officer. Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement this role is responsible for personally engaging donors managing a portfolio and increasing financial support for the University.
This position is ideal for a relational self-starter who thrives on meaningful interaction mission-aligned work and clear outcomes. The Donor Relations Officer will play a key role in cultivating and stewarding donor relationships while supporting fundraising efforts across academics arts athletics and other institutional priorities that advance Shorters mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and actively manage a dynamic portfolio of qualified donors and prospects with the goal of completing regular outreach and stewardship to build long-term philanthropic relationships.
- Initiate and conduct regular personal visits with alumni parents friends and community stakeholders to solicit gifts and deepen engagement.
- Participate in fundraising campaigns including but not limited to initiatives related to academics arts annual giving and athletics.
- Support the execution of fundraising events by contributing to planning meetings coordinating donor outreach and engaging in donor interaction during events
- Prepare clear compelling proposals donor communications and impact reports.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities aligned with institutional needs.
- Submit regular progress updates including donor activity metrics and fundraising outcomes.
- Represent Shorter University with integrity warmth and a deep commitment to Christian values.
- Perform additional related responsibilities as needed to support the Universitys mission and fundraising goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- 35 years of relevant experience in fundraising sales ministry or other relationship-driven roles.
- High energy self-motivated and mission-driven.
- Some travel required; occasional evening and weekend work expected in support of events and donor engagements held outside standard office hours.
- Must be a committed Christian whose character and conduct reflect the mission of Shorter University.
