What We Are Looking For

Baylor University is seeking a Investment Operations Manager for the Office of Investments. This position provides for Baylors financial future by managing operational aspects of the Office of Investments. The Investment Operations Manager is responsible for endowment treasury cash management accounting functions and compliance documentation for the investment office. The Investment Operations Manager will lead the annual audit of endowment investments and lead/co-lead special projects related to finance tax audit regulatory reporting and other related activities. This role reports to the Investment Business Director.

The ideal candidate is a proven innovative problem solver a results-oriented self-starter has meticulous attention to detail an excellent communicator who provides regular and effective updates a team collaborator with a positive attitude and an organized project manager. If selected the candidate should be prepared to achieve Baylors internally-provided Ignite (Oracle Cloud) Business Services Certification upon hire into the position if they do not already possess the certification.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelors degree
  • Field of Study: Administration Business Economics Finance Accounting or Sales
  • May substitute additional related education above and beyond what is required on an equivalent year-for-year basis in lieu of the experience requirement.
  • Experience: 2 years of related experience in accounting and financial management project budget management or endowment family office or similar industry
  • Licenses Certification or Registration:
  • Special Knowledge Skills or Other Abilities: Proven track record for management of people projects and resources. Demonstrated leadership planning and change management skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to problem solve gain buy-in merge ideas from multiple sources and think creatively to execute goals and resolve conflicts. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including in-depth experience with MS Excel.

Preferences:

  • Field of Study: Degree in Accounting Finance or Sales
  • Experience: 5 years of related experience in accounting and financial management project budget management or endowment family office or similar industry
  • Baylor Ignite (Oracle Cloud) Business Services Certification and/or current or previous CPA designation
  • Strong preference for someone with 8 years experience at a higher education institution in finance role endowment foundation investment firm wealth management firm family office or other similar organizations
  • Special Knowledge Skills or Other Abilities: Advanced financial expertise in budget planning and financial forecasting. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong knowledge of industry standards and/or regulatory requirements. Subject matter expertise for area(s) of responsibility. Experience with Baylor Ignite and TCM systems and other basic business systems.

What You Will Do

  • Oversees daily treasury function activities manages cash needs for the endowment executes applicable cash and trade transactions reviews daily account statements for appropriateness of activity accuracy and recordkeeping and works closely with the endowment and university treasury teams to achieve goals.
  • Collect and manage external manager performance documentation and contracts on a regular basis in the support of the Offices investment managers and internal processes. Interact with third party service providers as it relates to such information.
  • Works closely with the endowment leadership team and applicable university leaders to ensure treasury accounting audit and other financial duties are executed properly.
  • Serves as the primary contact for all investment office banking relationships and brokerage accounts. Opens and closes accounts as needed manages services by evaluating recommending and implementing changes to services or service providers and conducts periodic reviews of fees and services offered.
  • Interact with external managers and their administrators to resolve any cash flow reporting or informational needs or issues.
  • Responsible for reporting on the investment office expenditures annually and multi-year business plan: updating various systems tracking progress communicating regular reporting and overseeing the allocation of resources.
  • Manages the annual audit of endowment investments and works closely with the Business Director the team and the Controller and Treasury offices to ensure investment activity is properly accounted for.
  • Work with the legal and universitys Treasury department to address and affect any taxation questions or issues that may arise regarding the endowment portfolio.
  • Manage and execute ad hoc projects that relate to the office. Manage the day-to-day functioning of the office in all aspects and regards.

Additional Functions:

  • Leads and co-leads large-scale special projects and creates project plans establishes tracking tools leads regular communications gains buy-ins and updates leadership regularly.
  • Provides leadership and staff development to colleagues and interns through informal interactions and formal programs: internship programs small training sessions and staff meeting updates.
  • Leads strategic plans for business operations and works with senior management to develop and direct strategic plans for the overall organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
