QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will be a high school graduate with supplemental coursework in bookkeeping or accounting and have significant experience in clerical or accounting roles. Prior experience in a school setting is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles the ability to manage financial records accurately and proficiency in computer applications related to accounting. Effective communication skills attention to detail and the ability to work harmoniously with staff students and the public are essential.
DESCRIPTION
The Finance Officer performs a variety of clerical and semi-technical accounting duties to support the financial operations of the school. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records for school activity funds athletic accounts and other financial transactions. The Finance Officer ensures that all fiscal procedures comply with district policies state regulations and auditing standards. While the role may include some general secretarial responsibilities its primary focus is on financial accuracy compliance and recordkeeping.
GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)
SUPERVISION
This position operates under the general supervision of the school principal or their administrative designee. The Finance Officer may also provide financial guidance or clarification to school personnel related to policies and procedures.
WORK CONDITIONS
The Finance Officer primarily works in a school office environment with standard office equipment. Most tasks are sedentary in nature involving computer work and administrative functions. The role may require prolonged periods of typing and data entry. The position may involve frequent interruptions and the need to prioritize multiple tasks. While the job involves routine office work it also requires accuracy discretion and the ability to handle confidential information. Occasional lifting of light materials and bending or reaching may be required.
