Assistant Controller Drive Financial Excellence in Construction

Are you a proactive accounting leader with a passion for accuracy and process improvement Were looking for a detail-driven Assistant Controller to support financial operations optimize accounting workflows and lead a high-performing team in a dynamic construction environment. If you have a deep understanding of GAAP thrive in a fast-paced industry and enjoy rolling up your sleeves to solve complex financial puzzles this role is for you!
What Youll Do:
- Oversee Accounts Receivable and ensure billing accuracy and timely collections
- Manage Viewpoint ERP system (or quickly learn it) to support accounting workflows
- Identify cost-saving strategies and drive revenue-enhancing initiatives
- Lead mentor and develop the accounting team
- Ensure compliance with federal state and local tax laws and manage timely filings
- Prepare and review job cost entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supervise payroll operations and ensure full compliance
- Optimize cash flow and oversee treasury functions
- Support audit readiness and resolve financial discrepancies
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking
- Own the monthly close process across A/P A/R job costing and general ledger
- Collaborate with operations through Procore to improve financial reporting
- Partner with the Controller on team leadership and strategic improvements
What You Bring:
- Must have a Bachelors degree in Accounting
- Advanced Excel skills - pivot tables VLOOKUPs financial modeling (required)
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting (highly preferred)
- Experience with Viewpoint software (preferred)
- CPA or CCIFP certification (preferred or in progress)
- Proven ability to lead teams and improve accounting processes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
