Your Opportunity

TAIHS is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our Social Emotional Wellbeing Team. This role plays a key part in supporting the emotional social and cultural wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families.

As a Support Worker you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide culturally safe practical and emotional support to clients facing a range of social and emotional challenges. Youll help empower individuals on their journey to improved wellbeing and connection with community and culture.

Your Contribution

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support patients to attend SEWB appointments
  • Assist to coordinate SEWB Team administrative functions as required
  • Conduct client outreach as requested
  • Support and facilitate group activities
  • Support and facilitate the thorough care of Mental Health Referrals between TAIHS GPS the QLD Health SEWB team and other relevant Mental Health Services
  • Liaise with and support clients to access the services applicable to wellbeing
  • Prepare and maintain reports / statistics associated with the role and responsibilities

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualification Cert III Health Worker Community Services or Clinical Practice or a qualification deemed relevant to the role
  • Proven ability to support and facilitate support groups and cultural groups
  • Demonstrated respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people history and culture
  • Proven ability to liaise with and support clients to access the services applicable to wellbeing
  • Proven ability to prepare and maintain reports / statistics associated with the role and responsibilities
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to value individual strengths and limitations
  • Mental Health training experience (Desirable)

  • Current First Aid and CPR

Required Licenses and Checks

  • Ability to pass a National Police Check no Serious/Criminal/Court Records
  • Current Blue Card (Queenslands Working with Children Check) (or AHPRA registration if required)
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
  • Proof of qualifications and current registration (as appropriate) are to be provided prior to commencement of employment
