Job Description

Employment Opportunity: Sherwood Middle and Oak Middle SchoolsPOSITION: General Music and Choir Teacher2025-2026 School YearShrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a General Music and Choir Teacher at Sherwood Middle and Oak Middle Schools effective for theschool year. The ideal candidate is a creative enthusiastic and organized music educator with strong verbal written and interpersonal communication skills. This position includes fostering an appreciation for music as part of general culture teaching healthy and expressive vocal techniques developing students skills in music literacy listening and performance and engaging students in a general music class. We are seeking candidates who bring a broad range of performance and non-performance experience and who are deeply committed to excellence equity and access for all learners both in and beyond the classroom. This teacher must be prepared for evening and community commitments for an additional stipend. Qualified candidates with diverse racial ethnic cultural religious class and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to ResponsibilitiesFosters a positive and inclusive learning student appreciation for choral skills in vocal music and basic music appropriate repertoire for each choirs level and a variety of instruction techniques to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each repertoire of all types of music literature including traditional contemporary world cultures and a variety of composers that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment for larger choral student progress and provide constructive with parents on student in curriculum and other developmental other duties and responsibilities as cooperatively with elementary and high school music teachers to build a strong sequential vocal program throughout the QualificationsLicensure as an all levels or Grades 5-12 Music teacher from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary experience teaching choir at the elementary or middle school conducting skills knowledge of vocal pedagogy and choral to teach healthy lifelong vocal technique to developing middle school to promote participation in extracurricular musical to inspire and motivate students from all backgrounds and skill in piano knowledge of middle school student needs and programming Exhibits the core values of Shrewsbury Public SchoolsWorks flexibly in a changing environmentApplication Process Individuals applying for this position need to submit the following: letter of application/coverletter; current resume; three current letters of reference copy of applicable licenses andcertifications bachelor/masters unofficial transcripts (official will be required later).
