Job Description
Location: Round Rock TX 78665
Shift: Full-time days 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Compensation: Based on experience
- Perform and obtain comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories to assess patients physical and mental condition.
- Order collect interpret and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and healthcare needs.
- Prescribe or recommend medical drug therapies and other treatments. Perform procedures per approved protocols ensuring efficacy safety and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans based on assessments evidence-based medicine and standards of care; coordinate with physicians and the care team as needed.
- Evaluate patients responses to care and its effectiveness.
- Provide counseling to patients and families on medical processes illness management medication nutrition and health promotion.
- Counsel patients regarding drug regimens side effects and interactions with supplements OTC medications and herbal remedies.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of treatment plans and outcomes. Initiate timely consultation and referral when a problem exceeds the scope of practice or expertise.
- Deliver consultative services related to your specialty and training.
- Manage patients in other healthcare settings as needed (e.g. inpatient emergency procedural areas).
- Perform invasive procedures within the scope of practice and delegated authority.
- May be required to provide care beyond normal scheduled hours to support departmental needs.
- Knowledge of medical information diagnoses treatment alternatives drug properties/interactions and preventive measures.
- Knowledge of methods for diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with computers and healthcare software.
- Ability to develop and implement outcomes-based patient treatment plans.
- Ability to counsel patients on medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions and treatment plans.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience Gastroenterology.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas
- Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
