There is an open position in the Georgetown Public : ParaprofessionalHOURS PER DAY: Five (5) and half hoursLOCATION: Penn Brook Elementary SchoolSUPERVISOR: Classroom teacher and PrincipalANNUAL SALARY: Salary and benefits per Georgetown Education Association DATE: immediatelyWORK HOURS: 8:30 am - 3:00 pmWORK YEAR: 184 days the school year & professional development daysJOB DESCRIPTION:The individual hired for this position will enjoy working in a preschool environment show a positive attitude and be flexible to lend a hand where needed. The successful candidate will have effective interpersonal and communication skills. Specific duties of an Instructional Paraprofessional could include but not limited to the following:Works with assigned student(s) throughout the school day (including field trips) to implement goals objectives instruction accommodations and modifications of the individual education academic instruction designed by special education teacher/liaison and/or classroom teacher for all scripted curriculum programs designed by special education teacher/liaison and/or classroom assistive technology programming designed by special education teacher/ on the student/students the instructional paraprofessional may be required to handle or assist with duties that may include toileting hygiene community travel. Prepares collects and understands analysis of student data for reporting purposes and adjusting instruction as determined by the special education teacher/ with behavior emotional and/or social skills support plan(s) and record anecdotal notes as directed by special education teacher and/or the classroom in collecting work supervising exams demonstrating learning strategies organizational techniques and other student learning duties as determined by special education teacher and classroom teacher(s).Assists students with activities of daily living as determined by the students IEP. Toilet/hygiene training may be clear and regular verbal and/or written feedback to interprets the social emotional and behavioral needs of students and implements related intervention strategies appropriately including behavior plan de-escalation techniques and/or physical intervention as students in performing daily/regular classroom activities and with other team members as needed to obtain necessary student information and asks clarifying questions to ensure thorough understanding of instructional strategies for work area data books materials organized for discrete trial and sets up data/communication sheets for daily all professional development days both full and half day as determined by the special education teacher/liaison. No duties will be assigned without proper training for the instructional paraprofessional. RESPONSIBILITES:Have experience working with young children and an understanding of early childhood developmentWork under the supervision of the classroom teacher and Preschool DirectorBe flexibleWork closely with the classroom teacher to ensure the needs of all students in the classroom are being metAssist the teacher with classroom set up organization and establishing classroom routinesThe candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with teachers other paraprofessionals and service providers within the school to provide the best possible education for all in team meetings and professional development opportunitiesIDEAL CANDIDATE:Have experience working with students with identified special needs and an understanding of early childhood developmentDemonstrates and maintains a positive attitude about position and through with all requested tasks and initiative for own learning to ensure current student centered work record to report to work punctually and all assignments during the school flexible in an early childhood education REQUIRMENTSAssociated Degree preferred a High School Diploma requiredExperience working with students age 3-5Effective interpersonal communication and organizational skillsAble to work cooperatively with othersSALARY & BENEFITSPer agreement between the Georgetown School Committee and Georgetown Education for health insuranceContractual sick days and personal days
