The School of Business and Applied Arts at Madison College invites applications for the position of full-time Artisanal Modern Meat Butchery/Culinary Arts Instructor. This is a full-time one-year limited-term position running from January through December 2026. Ideally the person selected for this position would be able to cross-train or teach a course in Fall 2025; however this is not a prerequisite. Madison College is a comprehensive open-access institution providing high-quality education to a diverse population including many first-generation college students. We are seeking motivated and engaged candidates who are eager to collaborate with faculty staff students and the community at large. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the field and to teaching positioning them as a visionary and innovative member of the program.
This position reports to the Dean of the School of Business and Applied Arts.

Our goal is to conduct one round of in person interviews on or around July 23rd 2025. Anticipated full-time start date is January 5 2026.
This position is responsible for in person instruction of Artisanal Modern Meat Butchery at our Truax Campus in Madison Wisconsin. This includes following a curriculum that has already been developed and enhancing if needed to meet the needs of the program. Teaching occurs primarily in the day however some evenings could be needed for special events.
This position is located in the vibrant and diverse city of Madison Wisconsins 2nd largest city and state capital. Nestled between two recreational lakes Madisonians are offered year-round activities for all including the Dane County Farmers Market located around the Capitol Square more than 200 miles of scenic biking and hiking trails world class restaurants and numerous festivals and community events. Madison is consistently ranked as a top community in which to work live and play. Madison offers a small town feel with a big city impression. Essential Duties:
-Facilitate student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to fit students needs and support student engagement. Continually revise curriculum to improve student learning.
-Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback in courses taught by the instructor.
-Contribute to student success and retention by advising students with course selection career concerns internships and other matters.
-Serve as an advocate for students and engages in activities that help students achieve their goals such as writing letters of recommendations and/or helping students link with internships service learning job shadowing and other forms of networking.
-Provide support to the program the school and the college by attending and engaging in events and meetings and participating fully within the team environment.
-Continually improve teaching through professional development activities and the integration of new techniques and technology. This includes the development and implementation of individualized professional development plan.

-Skilled in communicating effectively and professionally both orally and in writing.
-Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
-Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. This includes but is not limited to knowledge/experience with current educational methods/strategies such as learner-centered instruction active learning assessment evaluation collaborative techniques and strategies aimed at closing the achievement gaps across race gender class and disability.
- Desire and ability to teach courses at both the collegiate transfer and technical/occupational program levels.
-Ability to communicate complex and difficult concepts and ideas to students with varied backgrounds and levels of preparedness.
-Engage in continuous improvement in the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies techniques and delivery methods as well as incorporating appropriate use of new and emerging technologies into the learning environment.
-Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on course and program promotion direction and innovation.
Qualifications:
1. Associates degree in related field
2. Two (2) years or 4000 hours of related work experience. (At least 1 year of occupational work experience (2000 hours) must be within 5 years prior to the date of appointment (this can be waived if the instructor has at least 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience in the field within the previous 5 years)
OR
1. Technical diploma in a related field with expectation to obtain an Associates degree within three (3) years of employment
2. Five (5) years or 10000 hours of related work experience
AND
1. Must be currently certified as a ServSafe Food Manager with a minimum score of 90% by date of hire
2. Certified in one of the following or the ability to earn a certification within one year of employment: 1. Certified Executive Chef 2. Certified Culinary Educator 3. Certified Pastry Chef 4. Foodservice Management Professional 5. Certified Sous Chef 6. Certified Working Pastry Chef
3. Experience with or willingness to learn different modes of instruction (online hybrid Classroom Live and modes of the future)
