Teacher - School Mental Health Counsellor/Physical Education & Wellness Probationary: August 25 2025 - June 25 2026

Location Beacon Hill Public School FTE 1.0

Start Date August 25 2025 Closing Date July 3 2025

Beacon Hill Public School is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in the role of School Mental Health Counsellor and Physical Education and Wellness Teacher.

Requirements: Bachelor of Education Degree Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Promote family involvement and increase family participation in educational personal social and/or vocational planning for students.
  • Comply with guidelines for Practice including developmental guidance instruction individual student planning responsive services and school/community support systems.
  • Experience teaching in an Elementary setting with knowledge of neurodivergent and English Language Learners.
  • Physical Education and Wellness experience/knowledge of the Physical Education and Wellness curriculum.
  • Recognize the importance of making a strong positive connection with all students through classroom interactions as well as involvement with students outside the classroom. (ie. clubs and teams)
  • Possess the ability to develop and collaborate with effective teams made of teachers educational assistants parents and multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Familiarity with Healthy Schools Policy/Apple Schools
  • Participate in staff development professional learning communities and other meetings as appropriate
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Assessment for Learning Literacy and Differentiated Instruction practices.
  • Effective organizational skills and classroom management skills are imperative.
  • Ability to integrate and use technology in a regular or virtual classroom.
  • A strong ability to build relationships with Elementary school students.
  • Strong technology skills are required with knowledge of Google Platform applications and PowerSchool an asset.

All candidates must hold or be able to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate have knowledge of curriculum and teaching experience at those levels/subject areas and demonstrated interpersonal and classroom management skills
