Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
The art education adjunct teaches two sections ofART 3302 Teaching Art for Childreneach semester in Fall 25 and Spring 26 in the Department of Art. This class is required for elementary education majors and is open to any student who wishes to fulfill Life Skills in the university core courses.
This course takes an activity-oriented approach to teaching art from early childhood through elementary school applying diverse teaching strategies within a research-based framework. It explores art tools media and hands-on techniques through art-integrated lesson plans and teaching practices.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
A masters degree from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in art education elementary education or art-related fields is required.
Candidates should have excellent art or classroom teaching experience in elementary schools. Strong communication problem-solving and organizational skills are essential.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Art teaching experiences for K-5 and teaching college-level art education and/or art are preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of subject matter and developmental art stage for children teaching undergraduate classes.
