Job Description

This research assistant job posting is unique as multiple campuses (Bristol Bay Campus Chukchi Campus Interior Alaska Campus Kuskokwim Campus and Northwest Campus) within the College of Indigenous Studies.

This position will be responsible for working on projects that increase interest in STEM learning and local STEM jobs for rural Alaska Native students. Facilitate community engagement in the development of learning resources and experiences that draw on the collective wisdom of generations and the need to maintain traditional living in a rapidly changing environment.

This temporary position involves conducting research duties as assigned by the campus or college aligned with specific grant objectives. Key qualifications include effective verbal and written communication skills demonstrated multicultural experience and strong organizational abilities. The role requires adeptness in using spreadsheets and databases to gather and manage information efficiently. Additionally strong interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships within a diverse research environment.

To thrive in this position candidates should ideally possess at least one year of technical experience which includes proficiency in data management and data entry particularly with confidential information. Experience in conducting interviews and managing research-related tasks is highly beneficial. Additionally having at least six months of relevant experience or academic training in research methodologies will provide a solid foundation for fulfilling the responsibilities effectively and contributing to the success of the project.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in a relevant field and one year experience in a field relevant to the research or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This is a part-time temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA temporary salary schedule Grade 77 based on education and experience. Please note our rural campuses have a geographic differential that will be incorporated into the final salary amount.
