The Environmental Community Partnership (ECP) is a department of UAF that provides environmental support to the Army Directorate of Public Works (DPW) Environmental Division at Fort Wainwright through an intergovernmental service agreement (IGSA) contract. The ECP supports vital functions across the DPW Environmental Division. The list of programs supported includes: air quality water quality spill prevention and response cultural and natural resources as well as environmental restoration. Additionally dedicated ECP staff work with federal partners to advise Army decision makers regarding regulatory requirements including those established in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
The student position will support one or more of the programs mentioned above. Job duties could include collecting and recording data data entry GIS data collection and analysis cartography inspecting tanks and emission units collecting water or soil samples general office work. Possible field work during inclement weather walking through rough terrains. Other duties as assigned.
To thrive in this role the student will possess basic computer skills including word processing spreadsheets internet and email basic clerical skills including accurate typing and filing photocopying and scanning. Also the ability to perform moderately strenuous physical activity such as hiking and carrying gear.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a current University of Alaska student enrolled in 6 credit hours or more and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Depending upon the specific position the ability to perform moderately strenuous physical activity such as moving/lifting objects or hiking may be required.
Position Details:
This position is located on Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a part-time non-exempt temporary student position.
This is a pooled position which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year and applicants are reviewed on an as needed basis.
