Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Client Engineering team in Canada ensuring specific individual goals plans initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the teams business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.
- Provide technical analyses and recommendations in terms of new solutions and supporting existing ones with a focus on creating robust and reusable solutions.
- Develop ETL solutions and have experience using TALEND ETL tools.
- Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it. Work towards improving stability and decreasing vulnerabilities across the platform.
- Create and maintain documentation such as architectural diagrams and best practices documents.
- Manages the execution of day-to-day project-oriented work efforts and meeting customer expectations for contracted time cost and specifications definitions. Reviewing requirements estimating work effort on new initiatives develop design documents (GDD) as well as File specs.
- Build and maintain strong working relationship with peers within the business unit and with business partners
- Provides expert advice to Business Partner and/or IT areas and IT project teams.
- Operationalizes technical processes and accountable for the development and maintenance of technology systems.
- Review and approve Production ready deployment.
- Facilitates/resolve problem resolution when production problems occur.
- Ability to contribute in Agile environments with understanding of its methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and its tools (Jira Confluence Azure DevOps).
- Works well independently & as part of a team.
- Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Education and experience
- 3 years of experience as DataStage Developer or related field
- 3 years of experience Hands-on experience with Parallel jobs using various stages like Join Merge Lookup Remove duplicates Filter Dataset Lookup file set Complex flat file Modify Aggregator XML.
- 3 years of experience Hands-on DataStage Manager Designer Administrator and Director.
- 3 years of experience Hands-on Big Data concept and platforms such as Hadoop Hive Beeline EDL
- Expertise in UNIX shell scripts using K-shell for the automation of processes and scheduling the DataStage jobs.
- Expert in designing Server jobs using various types of stages like Sequential file ODBC Hashed file Aggregator Transformer Sort Link Partitioner and Link Collector.
- Experienced in integration of various data sources (DB2-UDB PL/SQL Hadoop data) into data staging area.
- Experience in Agile development and tools such as Jira Confluence Bitbucket Jenkins etc.
- Excellent knowledge of studying the data dependencies using metadata stored in the repository and prepared batches for the existing sessions to facilitate scheduling of multiple sessions.
- Proven track record in troubleshooting of DataStage jobs and addressing production issues like performance tuning and enhancement.
- Experienced in Database programming for Data Warehouses (Schemas) proficient in dimensional modeling.
- Experienced in Data Modeling as well as reverse engineering using tools Erwin and MS Visio.
