How youll contribute
Boyd Jones is seeking a Director of QA/QC to lead our company-wide quality strategy across a dynamic portfolio of building construction and renewable energy projects. The Director of Quality is responsible for developing/improving implementing and overseeing the Quality Management System (QMS) across all sectors. This role ensures that all work meets or exceeds company standards client expectations applicable codes and regulatory requirements. The Director of Quality leads a team of QA/QC professionals and works cross-functionally with project teams field operations safety and engineering to drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Quality Planning:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management Plan aligned with corporate goals and industry best practices.
  • Establish company-wide quality policies procedures metrics and performance targets.
  • Lead quality planning efforts during all phases of projects.
Project Quality Oversight:
  • Support project teams in creating and implementing project-specific QA/QC plans.
  • Oversee inspection and testing procedures for materials construction methods and completed work across vertical and solar projects.
  • Ensure quality documentation (e.g. submittals RFIs inspections non-conformance reports) is properly maintained and audit-ready.
  • Lead the companys quality culture and standards across all business units.
  • Guide teams on complex quality challenges and regulatory compliance.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes contract specifications solar installation standards (e.g. NEC NABCEP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead root cause analyses and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues and recurring non-conformances.
  • Represent Boyd Jones during third-party inspections and client QA/QC reviews.
Team Management & Development:
  • Lead mentor and develop a high-performing QA/QC team including field inspectors and quality managers.
  • Conduct regular training for internal staff and trade partners on quality procedures and expectations.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
  • Analyze trends from inspections audits and client feedback to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Report quality metrics and risk analysis to executive leadership.
  • Partner with Preconstruction VDC Engineering Safety and Field Operations to integrate quality standards early in project lifecycles.
  • Evaluate and select QA/QC technologies and platforms to drive innovation (e.g. Procore drone inspections laser scanning) to enhance quality assurance/control processes.
What youll bring
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management or related field; Masters preferred.
  • 10 years in quality assurance/quality control roles with 5 years in leadership positions.
  • Prior experience in renewable or technology-driven construction is highly desirable.
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or similar preferred.
  • Executive-level communication and leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of construction QA/QC principles digital workflows and energy sector requirements.
  • Strong analytical strategic planning and organizational development abilities.
  • Proficient in enterprise QA/QC software systems and audit practices.
