Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services major site with a preference for our Ottawa site (1800 Alta Vista Drive) and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors our staff and our communities. Currently employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a temporary full-time Specialist Strategic Communication to join our dynamic Communications and Content team in our Donor Engagement and Corporate Reputation division.
The Communications and Content team empowers and motivates individuals to join Canadas Lifeline by creating engaging content building brand affinity and preserving confidence in Canadian Blood Services.
In this role you will support our internal communications team to effectively reach employees working across the country in different roles divisions and environments. You will be accountable for the planning development and production of communications strategies products and resources in support of business goals critical issues and high priority initiatives.
This role requires strong content production skills and change communication skills. This highly collaborative role will also require excellent relationship building skills. You will work closely with a broad range of organizational partners to provide communications guidance.
You will safeguard Canadas Lifeline by effectively supporting employees adapt to change engage our teams through new and exciting employee engagement opportunities and play a key role to improve how we deliver valuable and relevant communications to internal administrative and frontline audiences.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your demonstrated knowledge and expertise you will advise create and execute on communication strategies in support of the goals and objectives of Canadian Blood Services.
- Utilizing your creativity and multimedia capabilities you will produce creative content (written video and visual) in alignment with brand guidelines. Content development supports internal audiences in a variety of channels.
- You will support engagement opportunities that deepen employee commitment to Canadas Lifeline.
- Drawing on your exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build impactful relationships you will support divisional partners including but not limited to People Culture and Performance to enhance employee experience initiatives.
- Harnessing your strong ability to collaboration across diverse teams you will safeguard our brand and reputation by working with subject matter experts to ensure high quality brand-aligned consistent and accurate content.
Desired education and skills
- Post-Secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution is essential preferably in Public Relations Journalism Communications Marketing or related field.
- 5 years of communications-related experience; minimum 3years of other related experience.
- Training/experience in video production and editing and/or graphic design is an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered.
- Certification in multimedia software is a plus.
