The Head of Data & Analytics holds a pivotal role in our organisation tasked with the critical responsibility of providing robust infrastructure advanced tools and comprehensive frameworks to deliver end-to-end solutions addressing complex business challenges. This position is instrumental in constructing scalable infrastructure that supports the extraction of clear actionable business insights from raw data sources. The role demands a steadfast focus on data collection management analysis and visualisation coupled with the development of sophisticated analytical solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Spearhead the expansion and optimisation of Standard Banks data and data pipeline architecture ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise data flow and collection processes with the ultimate goal of supporting critical data initiatives across the organisation.
- Oversee the design and implementation of robust data management systems that ensure data integrity security and accessibility.
- Lead the development of advanced analytics capabilities leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to extract valuable insights from complex datasets.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align data and analytics strategies with overarching business objectives ensuring that data-driven decision-making is embedded at all levels of the organisation.
- Establish and enforce rigorous data governance policies and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of data scientists analysts and engineers fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance the organisations data and analytics capabilities staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
- Provide expert guidance on complex data-related issues and challenges serving as the primary point of reference for data and analytics matters within the organisation.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to ensure the successful delivery of data-driven solutions that meet business needs.
Qualifications :
Essential Qualifications:
- First Degree in Information Studies or Information Technology
Requisite Experience:
Data Monetisation and Analytics: 5-7 years of extensive experience encompassing:
- Proficiency in big data tools: Hadoop Spark Kafka and related technologies
- Expertise in relational SQL and NoSQL databases with particular emphasis on Postgres and Cassandra
- Demonstrated capability in data pipeline and workflow management tools including but not limited to Azkaban Luigi and Airflow
- Comprehensive knowledge of AWS cloud services specifically EC2 EMR RDS and Redshift
- Proven experience with stream-processing systems such as Storm and Spark-Streaming
- Advanced proficiency in object-oriented/object function scripting languages including Python Java C and Scala
Critical Competencies:
- Exceptional analytical skills for working with complex unstructured datasets
- Demonstrated ability to construct robust processes supporting data transformation data structures metadata dependency and workload management
- Verifiable track record of manipulating processing and extracting value from large disparate datasets
- In-depth working knowledge of message queuing stream processing and highly scalable big data data stores
- Advanced SQL proficiency and extensive experience with relational databases query authoring and a broad familiarity with diverse database systems
- Proven expertise in building and optimising big data pipelines architectures and datasets
- Demonstrable experience in conducting root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to address specific business questions and identify areas for enhancement
