of Job Duties:The Department of World Languages Literatures & Cultures in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for two non-tenure track Instructors of Spanish to start in August 2025. These are standard nine-month faculty appointments.

These non-tenure track Instructors will teach four classes in the Fall and Spring Semesters. These Instructors will be expected to teach four courses per semester and assist in the extra-curricular activities organized by the Spanish section and allied programs. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academic community. Initial appointment is for a period of one year with the possibility for renewal. The opportunity for reappointment will be based on performance and program needs and available funding. For the annual renewal candidates should provide at least one year of evaluations as instructor of record illustrating high quality teaching effectiveness.

Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others


About the Department:
The Department of World Languages Literatures and Cultures promotes an international understanding and global academic exchange. Through the Center for World Languages courses in 13 languages and participation in many interdisciplinary programs across campus faculty members empower students to become proficient communicators and acquire a working knowledge of cultures and literatures around the world. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Spanish conferred by the start of employment

  • Native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English

  • At least one year of teaching experience and evidence of quality teaching across a range of levels


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Spanish (or in ABD status)

  • Teaching heritage language learners teaching Spanish for the professions (business health education legal) and/or innovative technology-based instruction in the classroom
