Company Overview:

Warn Automotive can trace its beginning back to 1948 when Arthur Warn invented the first disconnecting four-wheel-drive hub for surplus World War II vehicles. Since that time our products have continued to lead the industry with a history of innovation in Powertrain Disconnect technology.

Position Summary:

Responsible for managing assigned commodities and New Product Implementation (NPI) across the procurement/material planning functions. Areas of responsibility include: (1) Development of global commodity plans relating to market/trend analysis source identification/selection total cost reductions supplier performance criteria cost model structures and supplier quality. (2) Development of material planning/optimization activities relating to supplier delivery performance inventory turns/lead-time improvement inventory obsolescence engineering change management and cycle count management. (3) Administration of procurement policies/procedures and leadership activities necessary for optimal performance (4) Be the Supply Chain lead on sourcing and quoting activities for the NPI process.

Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Travel up to 15% - including both domestic and international travel.
  • Develops detailed global commodity plans that focus on market analysis cost quality delivery new product development/technology and overall supplier service level.
  • Identifies conducts assessments and secures best in class sources globally.
  • Drives continuous improvement activity with the supply base to support department and company objectives.
  • Manages/Optimizes suppler delivery performance supplier lead time inventory turns engineering changes new product development and obsolescence.
  • Develops cost models to ensure industry competitiveness and identify opportunities based on appropriate cost drivers.
  • Oversees the purchasing and/or contracting for materials supplies equipment and services for the operation of the Company. Confers with requesting parties when specific sources are requested added or changed.
  • Establishes and maintains purchasing practices contracts assessments and policies to insure honest fair and ethical relationships with our vendors. Keeps informed on legal matters that affect purchasing policies.
  • Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials suppliers and processes to achieve the best possible quality reliability prices continuity and delivery.
  • Keeps abreast of materials and markets and materials pricing trends that affect Company products.
  • Provide direction for evaluating implementing and maintaining systems to optimize the procurement and maintenance of all product materials.
  • Provide leadership in supplier negotiation sessions including articulating clear negotiation strategies.
  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area. Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls including a self-assessment and report to management.
  • Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area.
  • Work safely and without injury.
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
  • Performs other various duties as may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A manufacturing operations centered four year university degree and three to five years of supply chain management experience is required. MBA and experience in international materials management and international procurement will be a plus.
  • To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of JDE or related business systems software; thorough understanding of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite is required. Excel mastery is expected.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills commensurate with the job tasks and position necessary to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers while providing exceptional quality of work and outstanding customer service. Ability to present information in a manner designed to educate or inform other team members and customers in one-on-one or group interactions as directed.
  • Ability to review comprehend interpret process and evaluate effectively written work instructions and procedures written in English in conjunction with the performance of the essential functions and other assigned job duties.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills including ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a calm rational and respectful demeanor and communication style in times of stress occasioned by work demands tight timelines heavy production expectations unexpected quality control issues and other work-related issues or concerns that may cause a heightened level of anxiety frustration anger disappointment confusion etc.

  • Strong negotiating skills to review market conditions and compare to proposals quotes or current pricing to establish best cost position possible for the company.
  • Provide intellectually sound and well-reasoned answers recommendations and solutions to identified business problems issues and/or questions. Efficiently and quickly analyze process manipulate and accurately record extensive amounts of data (some of which is technical in nature) and other information that serves as the basis for this position.
