This is a 3-4-year competency-based Maintenance Technician Development program. This program has been developed to meet the needs for qualified Maintenance Technicians in the Lafayette IN facility through on-the-job training and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) study program. The trainee will be assigned to a variety of training stations with specific learning activities throughout the facility that pertain to their skill path and will rotate between first second and third shifts as needed to complete learning requirements. Upon successful completion of the program the trainee will be given the opportunity to become a level 6 Maintenance Technician within Facilities Engineering.
The applicant will be required to take classes at a local community college to acquire a technical certificate during the program. The applicant will also be required to work all shifts IE: first second & third during the Maintenance Training Development program work at heights climb ladders work underground and in confined spaces. They should be willing to work overtime such as weekends holidays and shutdowns and must not be colorblind. It is incumbent that the applicant takes the lead in his or her own learning by working within the ILP and the tradesmen. Successful candidate will graduate the Maintenance Technician Development program to a 2nd or 3rd shift opening to be determined later.
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong computer hardware network and software skills and knowledge.
- Basic mechanical/electrical skills hydraulics pneumatics

- Good communication skills
- Excellent work ethic
- Positive team-based attitude
- Willing to work overtime (weekends holidays shutdown)
- Willing to learn attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace medium to heavy duty assembly technical environment.
- Must pass colorblind test
- Work may involve frequent bending stooping and kneeling twisting turning climbing and standing on concrete for 8 hours.
- All positions also require the ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.
- Must be able to work in heights and confined spaces
Additional Information:
- Location of this position is in Lafayette IN
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected applicant.
- Shift to be determined after apprenticeship is completed.
- 40-hour work weeks with potential for Overtime
- 144 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO) - (Prorated based upon start date)
