University of Florida Department of Recreational Sports

The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a Lake Wauburg Reservations Program Assistant to join our energetic team and move Gators toward lifelong wellbeing! The Reservations Program Assistant is responsible for managing facility requests and reservation processes for Lake Wauburg facilities assisting with program reservations for Challenge Course and Skills Workshops and coordinating event logistics.

RecSports Team Member Responsibilities

  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers participants and guests
  • Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of RecSports Service: accountability anticipating needs attitude and atmosphere
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador
  • Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
  • Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding RecSports facilities
  • Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
  • Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures
  • All RecSports employees are expected to abide by the RecSports Student Staff Code of Conduct that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons develop each team member and prepare student employees for future career endeavors.

Fall Kick-Off 2025: Tuesday August 19

  • Fall Kick-Off is our all-staff event to discuss department-wide updates facilitate unit training sessions as well as cultivate community and positive energy within our RecSports team. All RecSports Student Staff are expected to attend and will be paid for their training time. Please mark your calendars as this is mandatory for all-staff. In addition please hold your calendars for August 15-20 2025 for mandatory unit-specific trainings.

Unit Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Manage facility requests and reservation processes for Lake Wauburg facilities.
  • Assist with program reservations such as Challenge Course and Skills Workshops
  • Provide customer service to park patrons and guests including reservation inquiry tours and answering phone calls.
  • Coordinate logistics and event management for facility reservations which includes activities after 5:00 PM and on weekends.
  • Recruit staff to assist with event management.
  • Assist in training scheduling coaching and evaluating event staff.
  • Assist in large-scale internal special event coordination.
  • Assess satisfaction of facilities events and customer experiences
  • Provide feedback to supervisor regarding the safety and/or condition of programs equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct daily observations and/or use said equipment and facilities.
  • Immediately document and address all safety concerns.
  • Operate a state vehicle as needed.
Expected Salary:

$14.90 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis up to 20 hours per week.

*Federal Work Study students are encouraged to apply.

  • Able to work 20 hours per week
  • Ability to work non-traditional times (after 5:00 p.m. and weekends) to ensure regular coverage and on-call assistance for weekend events
