Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President Operations the primary duties of the oversight and direction of the Heart of Texas Goodwills Safety and Loss Prevention departments. The Safety & Loss Prevention Director is responsible for ensuring all critical incidents are documented and managed appropriately in accordance with all applicably CARF local and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following other duties may be assigned:

  • Maintain and manage safety and loss prevention programs for Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries Inc.
  • Responsible for hiring training and counseling loss prevention and safety staff to assist with relevant duties.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant asset protection and health and safety legislation best practices and standards in order to ensure compliance with applicable CARF and/or local/state requirement.
  • Ensures agency compliance in the internal monitoring and audit of all Health Safety and Loss Prevention documentation and training compliance obligations.
  • Ensure procedures are in place for all facilities legal and other obligations including fire safety building structures building accessibility inspections drills etc.
  • Manages and coordinates any necessary vendors related to asset protection loss prevention and health and safety for all Heart of Texas Goodwill facilities.
  • Implement execute and monitor loss prevention procedures at all retail and donation locations. This could include but is not limited to shoplifting employee theft and misappropriation and after hours theft of donations.
  • Evaluates and suggests changes in training curriculum and/or working conditions to reduce theft increase efficiency and/or safety of departments and procedures.
  • Assist in developing methods of ensuring inventory control and loss prevention relevant to each individual location.
  • Ensure that all critical incidents or injuries are reported and investigated.
  • Collaborate with other department leadership and management in addressing specific loss prevention or safety issues. Coordinates training to address identified issues accordingly.
  • Monitor security cameras employee parking and donation drop off sites. View surveillance tapes and suggest repositioning of cameras if needed.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with local municipal State and Federal Law Enforcement.
  • Attends scheduled meetings and training.
  • Must maintain First aid and CPR certification and ensure others are trained and certified.
  • Maintains a positive team-oriented relationship with peers and subordinates.
  • Provides leadership guidance and professional development to staff. Models the expected behavior of the staff.
  • Operate within budget requirements.
  • Promotes the general goals and objectives of Heart of Texas Goodwill and champions employee development.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality in all aspects of the work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. At least two years of experience is preferred. Must have strong interpersonal organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to maintain confidential information.

While performing the duties of this job the employee

  • Is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for up to eight hours per day.
  • Must be able to use hands and feet and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must have sufficient eyesight and manual dexterity to discriminate between and classify items.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry 30 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches and less) and color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to airborne particles (dust animal hair lint). May work outside in hot cold or wet conditions. The work environment ranges from very quiet to noisy.
