Legal Services delivers key services within Council through the provision of legal advice litigation drafting and reviewing of contracts and conveyancing.

About the role

Penrith City Council has a Permanent full-time Paralegal position available to join the Legal Services Team. In this position you will report directly to the position of Legal Counsel and will assist in legal research drafting and other legal activities. You will be responsible for the management of the administration of the Legal Services team and assist in the delivery of Councils Legal Function.

Essential criteria

  • Studying or recent graduate of a legal qualification or similar
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • An understanding of the role of local government in NSW

Desirable criteria

  • Local Government experience
  • Knowledge of Court processes - particularly the Land and Environment Court of NSW and Local Court of NSW

Commencing salary: $90063.00 per annum plus 11.5% Superannuation.

You will be required to undertake employment checks which may include a Criminal History Check Qualification Check Working with Children Check Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council for review in order to progress through the recruitment process.
