JOB BAND: D
CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed-term Contract / Attachment Full-time till 29 June 2026
DEPARTMENT: BBC Children in Need
LOCATION: Main UK Hubs with travel to BBC sites as required - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 38500 - 46000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

JOB PURPOSE

The Programmes and Partnerships Manager leads BBC Children in Needs A Million and Me Programme focused on early intervention in mental health for children and young people. It is responsible for managing a portfolio of strategic national grants; leading programme design for the next phase of work in this thematic area; and supporting cross organisational work on mental health including an annual campaign content networking and convening.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • To provide strategic leadership for the mental health impact theme
  • To work within the UK Grants Partnerships and Programmes Team to manage and maintain effective delivery of national and strategic grantmaking partnerships.
  • To lead in the design delivery and evaluation of all mental health programmes
  • To lead key external relationships and partnerships with organisations in the voluntary community public and philanthropic sectors.
  • To lead the internal partnerships required to deliver against the mental health impact theme including a Mental Health Impact Board the BBC Wellbeing Working Group etc.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Knowledge and experience of work focused on mental health for children and young people
  • Experience managing programmes or partnerships - including managing contracts programme budgets embedding safeguarding and risk management
  • Experience of programme design
  • Experience of the partnership lifecycle including selection of appropriate techniques for delivery.
  • Good knowledge of the grant making voluntary sector and/or the children and young peoples field
  • Excellent communication writing and presentation skills
