The Lead Teacher is responsible for an Early Childhood Center Classroom supervising 13-18 children including classroom activities and meal times. Head Start Lead Teachers coordinate parent teacher conferences and home visits with families. ECEAP Lead Teachers coordinate parent teacher conferences with families. In addition to classroom activities this position will be responsible for maintaining records for all children and families. This position will work closely with parents families community partners and other staff members.
We currently have two Lead Teacher openings:
Head Start classroom at Memorial Park:
10 months 40 hours per week
Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
ECEAP classroom at LCC East:
9.25 months 40 hours per week
Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

You will have the opportunity to:
Carry out and implement an appropriate Early Childhood Center based-program for 15-20 preschool children
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree Requirements:
Head Start Lead Teacher: Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education; OR Bachelor degree in related field and AA in Early Childhood Education; OR AA in Early Childhood Education and enrolled in Bachelor program for Early Childhood Education.
ECEAP Lead Teacher: An AA Degree or higher with the equivalent of 30 college credits in Early Childhood Education; OR a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K Grade 3) or Early Childhood Special Education.
If the best candidate is not fully qualified a Professional Development Plan will be developed to monitor and show continuous progress to meet the required qualifications.
Minimum of two years of experience teaching in early childhood education working with children from infancy to grade 3.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child development.
Previous experience serving low-income and/or underrepresented populations.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Competence in various curriculum areas such as music art science pre-readingstorytelling numeric fluency and language development.
Over two years of experience as a Lead Teacher in an early learning program (ages 3-5).
