QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in marketing public relations and/or journalism preferred
- Three years experience in marketing public relations and/or journalism
- Ability to interact coherently with the media and community
- Ability to multitask on various projects
- Strong written verbal and digital communication skills
REPORTS TO: Director of Communications
JOB GOAL: The Marketing Communications Specialist will work with the Director of Communications to oversee develop and implement strategies that enhance the school districts public image.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Director of Communications in executing the marketing and communications plan for the school district - both internally and externally. Produce and coordinate messaging for web print and other marketing material.
- Execute assignments as public relations and/or media relations liaison. a. Establish relationships with local media and prominent members of the community. b. Assist in coming up with ideas to pitch stories to media and publications. c. Monitor media coverage on a daily basis and for monthly reporting.
- Create content for website and other district communication platforms. a. Provide relevant content on each schools website - as it relates to that particular school news events calendars etc. b. Maintain content on individual school websites throughout the year. c. Post consistently on district social media platforms.
- Create relevant multimedia content for each school and district website and social media platforms. a. Ability to shoot video using district-provided video equipment. b. Ability to edit video using iMovie or similar editing tools. c. Visit all schools across the district to take pictures as needed and share on individual school websites district website and appropriate district social media platforms.
- Ensures that communications are accurate clear and complete. a. Edits proofreads and fact-checks all communication internally and externally as instructed by the Director of Communications. b. Ensure all materials are correct in terms of spelling grammar punctuation and editorial style; and that they maintain a consistent tone and voice.
- Maintain well-rounded business communication and administrative skills - particularly in the absence of the Director of Communications. a. Ability to cooperate with internal team with a positive attitude. b. Communicate clearly and effectively with media especially in times of crises. c. Self-confidence to be a voice when decisions must be made.
- Familiarize oneself with Board of Education policies district and school guidelines and regulations and adhere to same.
- Perform other duties as designed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary Range: Range 2 - Support Staff/Administrative/Professional/Technician/Supervisory Salary Schedule($193.70/day - $309.82/day based on relevant experience)
Length of Contract: 200 contract days
