Urban Housing Research and Data Coordinator - Competition 2025-068

Housing and Infrastructure

Full-Time Term with a possibility of an extension

Closing Date: June 27 2025


Position Summary

The Urban Housing Research and Data Coordinator is responsible for conceptualizing researching gathering and assembling information. Reporting directly to the First Nations Housing and Infrastructure Specialist the coordinator is also responsible for conducting research on various policies regarding urban housing providing data and details for media statements and drafting research documents and recommendations for an effective First Nations decision-making process regarding urban housing for First Nations in Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and data and provide supporting information for briefing notes reports and other written materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Conduct research and data needed in the development of media statements for review by the First Nations Housing and Infrastructure Specialist and/or staff.
  • Create various statistics data spreadsheets charts and presentations pertinent to the various projects and research tasks.
  • Ability to retrieve information and data using outside sources for example through the Freedom of Information Act or through the archives.
  • Stay current with the various urban housing-related issues that affect urban First Nations.
  • Provide support with the research and data collection for different areas of urban housing specific to First Nations.
  • Research policies and procedures of various housing-related mechanisms such as the Residential Tenancies Branch (RTB) or similar rights and responsibilities that relate to urban housing affecting First Nations.
  • Conduct statistics research and prepare draft presentations.
  • Basic data analysis and summary preparations.
  • Support in the success of work plans tasking and benchmarks in place by management.
  • Draft higher-level presentations when needed and specific to tasks such as strategies discussion papers and position papers.
  • Adhere to office policies and procedures and confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree or graduate degree in Education Communications or related fields.
  • Demonstrates data management skills.
  • Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of First Nations political issues with urban housing would be an asset.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Reliable trustworthy and dependable.
  • Ability to work closely with others independently or as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
  • Ability to follow office procedures practices and confidentiality.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software Word Excel and
  • Adhere to AMC policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance and professional
  • Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Clear Child Abuse Checks.
