The Opportunity:
The Landscape and Natural Resources department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking an Irrigation Technician I to maintain a fully functioning irrigation system across the universitys main campuses and branches.
Responsibilities:
Performs all types of electrical work relating to irrigation and irrigation systems to include but not limited to direct burial wiring time clocks solenoids and various components of the campuses standard computerized irrigation system.
Conducts mainline zone and connections inspections as part of the preventative maintenance programs.
Maintains records of labor material and job dates of all assigned work. Responsible for maintaining and keeping inventory of all tools and irrigation supplies issued.
Maintains and cleans equipment that is used for irrigation repairs.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy equipment digging and working in varying outdoor conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0 years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
1 years of experience in irrigation system installation maintenance and repair including troubleshooting electrical components.
Proficiency in managing computerized irrigation systems such as Rainbird (IQ4) or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of irrigation principles including hydraulics water conservation practices and sustainable landscape management.
Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work order tracking and documentation.
Familiarity with state regulations local ordinances and codes related to irrigation system design and maintenance.
Health Assessment Required:
UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated hourly range for this position is $17.64 to $23.60. The final hourly rate will be determined based on the candidates qualifications experience and internal equity considerations.
Position requires a valid Class E drivers license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
