UST is a Catholic university founded in 1947 by the Basilian Fathers as a coeducational comprehensive university. UST offers Bachelors Masters and PhD. degrees through its schools including Arts & Sciences Business Education Theology and more.
The School of Theology of the University of St. Thomas is located on the grounds of St. Marys Seminary. The 50-acre wooded campus is situated approximately 8 miles west of downtown Houston the nations 4th largest city. Three degrees are offered by the School of Theology to train candidates for the priesthood other pastoral ministries teachers and others serving in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural setting. The School also serves the Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and others by offering opportunities for continuing education in religious studies. It has been very active in offering diaconate education for several dioceses in the state of Texas.
The Division Dean reports to the Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences and works closely with the Rector of the Seminary. The Dean leads a faculty of four fulltime and forty-six adjunct professors with the assistance of office staff. The Dean is also expected to teach in the School of Theology and must work effectively with the Archbishop. A successful candidate may possess among the following: a doctorate or similar degree in a discipline appropriate to the school; teaching experience in a seminary setting; credentials appropriate to appointment in the School; administrative experience; effective communication skills; and ability to work to consensus. Particular consideration will be given to a Catholic priest in good standing.
