SUMMARY:
Direct the districts program for gifted and talented students. Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to provide educational opportunities for gifted and talented students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree
Masters Degree in Education Administration (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree
Three years experience as a gifted and talented teacher
At least three years of administrative experience preferred
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATION:
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with endorsement in gifted and talented education
Certified T-TESS Appraiser (Preferred)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators teachers students parents and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit occasionally walk and stand talk or hear; travel from one building to another or to other sites. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Light to moderate lifting is required.
This position requires meeting deadlines with severe constraints interacting with the public and staff and enduring irregular or extended work hours.
The employee must maintain emotional control under stress.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Some driving is required as the employee must be able to travel from building to building.
