Emerging Multilingual and Diverse Learner Specialist

The ideal candidate will be committed to the development achievement and well-being of the schools students in particular the English learners and the pursuit of academic excellence by those students. The Specialist a member of the leadership team will work with others on the leadership team to establish the culture and direction of the school and will model Catholic values through interactions at all levels with faculty and staff parents board and central office members and other community partners.
This position reports to the Principal of the school and has strong interactions with IMS leadership in the central office and other schools.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement best practices to improve educational outcomes for multilingual learners.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language development strategies into core instruction.
- Coach and support teachers through classroom observations modeling and reflective feedback.
- Plan and lead professional development sessions focused on language acquisition and differentiation.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of language acquisition and modification plans for learners.
- Analyze academic and language data to monitor student progress and adjust supports accordingly.
- Establish strong relationships with multilingual families providing clear communication and updates on student progress.
- Coordinate translation/interpretation services and language-accessible resources for families.
- Work closely with multilingual specialists across the school network to share best practices and ensure alignment of services and supports.
- Participate in network-wide initiatives data reviews and cross-campus professional learning communities.
- Support daily operations by assisting with arrival lunch dismissal and other duties as assigned.
- Manage staff in a way that aligns with current practices at the school.

- Instructional Expertise - Assess English learners Support teachers in understanding that every teacher is a language teacher guide teachers through emerging multilingual learning opportunities coach teachers in: implementing research based strategies designing high quality EL lesson plans tracking achievement of English learners.
- Advocate - Serve as an ambassador for students and their families: scheduling translation services providing culturally inclusive communication for families celebrating the universal church serve on the IMS diverse learners team Assist other schools in developing an ENL program.
Educational and credential requirements:
- Bachelors degree in education or a related field masters preferred
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience preferably with multilingual learners
- Experience in the field as an instructional leader or other leader
- Demonstrated success in coaching or supporting adult learners
- Clearances on all background checks
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success as a teacher/ school leader backed by data-driven instruction recommendations and outcomes
- Possess a deep capacity to effectively build develop and maintain strong relationships.
- Possess staff development skills including encouraging motivating presence exhibited in team building staff engagement and problem solving.
- Ability to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals exhibit flexibility and good judgment and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
