POSITION: Lead Teacher of BPS Infant/Toddler Room
JOB GOAL: The lead teacher will provide a nurturing and safe environment for infants and toddlers to assist children in reaching age appropriate milestones. The lead teacher will demonstrate good judgement in the care and play with each child.
REPORTS TO: Director - BPS Child Development Center
QUALIFICATIONS:
EEC Lead Teacher certification (infant/toddler level preferred);
High school diploma or G.E.D;
Associates degree in early childhood education preferred;
Lead Teacher experience (infant/toddler or preschool level).
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Teacher responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use diapering hand washing);
- Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times;
- Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development;
- Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren);
- Create and maintain an environment that is clean organized and safe for all children;
- Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service;
- Supervise teacher aides in the classroom and ensure they are following program policy and customer service expectations;
- Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children;
- Maintain communication regarding the daily activities of each child pertaining to eating sleeping and diaper changing using a daily sheet;
- Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times;
- Work cooperatively with BHS early education and care educators and students.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to lift children up to 50 pounds from the floor to waist high;
- Crouch to a childs height and maintain eye contact at a childs level;
- Stand or sit for long periods of time; to walk up and down stairs;
- Must be able to sit on the floor or in child sized furniture;
- Must be able to proactively take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children parents staff and themselves when coming in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a non-affiliated position. 40 hours per week. 185 work days (3 days before students and 1 day after students plus school recess days. Not eligible for paid vacation days.
