High Point University Manager of University Events plans implements and directs University events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelors degree required
Experience and Training
- Minimum of one year experience planning events and conferences required
- Management experience preferred; project management experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans implements and directs University events including Move-in Weekend and Welcome Week donor lunch and dinner events special events for the office of the President summer programs community and cultural events
- Plans implements and directs special University conferences symposia and other events that may be initiated by the Presidents Office or other departments
- Works closely with staff of the Presidents Office Institutional Advancement Student Life and other appropriate offices to plan coordinate and implement such events
- Assists and supports the Office for University Events for major university events including Commencements Family Weekends Admissions Weekends Veterans Day Thanksgiving Program Prayer Breakfast and other large events
- Develops creative ideas to maximize the effectiveness and impact of events consistent with the overall objectives of the university
- Assesses analyzes monitors and evaluates all University events to assure that objectives are met and to provide a continual means of improvement and enhancement
- Develops and manages appropriate budgets for University events; negotiates contracts with vendors
- Handles multiple projects simultaneously; manages in the midst of occasional changing dynamics (time location people etc.); effectively communicates and interacts with high profile individuals (administration trustees donors university guests VIPs etc.)
- Supervises Campus Enhancement team to schedule event setups and breakdowns and other maintenance/housekeeping issues
- Supervises the Hospitality Team to order all food requests and day of food service execution.
- Supervises HPU Police Security and Transportation on directional support parking and transportation requests and day of execution
- Supervises one student intern per semester as well as student workers and event volunteers. This includes hiring disciplining scheduling training assigning work and ensuring completion of assigned responsibilities
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students students parents faculty co-workers and managers
- Other duties as assigned
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Manages major university events within the Universitys budgetary requirements
- Negotiates vendor contracts
- Supervises one intern per semester plus student workers and event volunteers
