Job Description

Canterbury College is a high-performing award-winning Anglican ELC to 12 school serving the dynamic growth corridor of Logan northern Gold Coast the Scenic Rim and southern Brisbane. Playing a key role in ensuring a safe respectful and orderly environment across the school we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Student Operations and Engagement Officer to join our dedicated Senior School team commencing in Semester 2 on a Full-time basis.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Maintain a visible presence across school grounds ensuring student safety and appropriate behaviour during unstructured times
  • Supervise detentions monitor bus stops lockers and phone storage compliance.
  • Respond to incidents involving physical/verbal conflict and de-escalate conflict using calm non-confrontational approaches.
  • Support emergency and lockdown procedures and oversee student driver and carpark conduct.
  • Build positive relationships with students particularly those at-risk or in distress.
  • Act as a Student Protection Officer and support transitions and wellbeing needs.
  • Report welfare concerns to relevant staff.
  • Document behavioural incidents uniform breaches and academic misconduct.
  • Liaise with parents wellbeing staff and external agencies when required.
  • Oversee student driver applications and carpark behaviours.
  • Monitor school grounds for intruders or unsafe conditions and report concerns promptly.
Key Selection Criteria:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to students across all year levels.
  • Calm confident and consistent approach to student management.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing inclusivity and school values.
  • Ability to assess and respond to situations involving conflict risk or safety breaches.
  • Valid Working with Childrens Check (Blue Card) or willing to obtain.
  • Degree/Diploma qualifications relevant to the position.
