The salary scale for Professional Support 2 is based on steps that range from $64783.04 - $86126.92. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $75439.19 annually.

What you will be doing

As an Achieve Program Coordinator reporting to the Academic Chair School of Access Education and Language you will:

  • Be responsible to the College/Campus for the development and provision of the Achieve program.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the promotion planning implementation assessment and evaluation of the Achieve program.
  • Support learners in participating fully in college life through a structured transition program that includes:
    • Hands-on activities and workshops.
    • A person-centered approach to setting personal goals and action plans for employment independent living and social connection.
    • Classroom and campus experiences focused on developing essential and employability skills.
    • Applied learning experiences on campus and in the community including job shadowing and work placements.
  • Help students transition into employment or in some cases into other NSCC core programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in Social Services or a related discipline. Experience and/or certification in Adult Education would be considered an asset.
  • Certification as a Career Development Practitioner would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of three years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience. This includes demonstrated experience supporting persons with disabilities those who are neurodiverse and/or deaf.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and promoting team environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to using a person-directed neurodiversity affirming and culturally responsive approach to working with persons with disabilities.
  • You have an understanding of community supports and resources.

  • Occupational experience that includes person-centered planning would be considered an asset.

  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite E-mail videoconferencing software.

  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience. You have experience preparing delivering and evaluating training or facilitated sessions. You have experience supporting students or prospective students through advising guidance or service delivery.

  • Valid Nova Scotia Drivers License would be considered an asset.

  • You are dedicated to life-long learning.
  • You show a strong commitment to community involvement.
  • You possess strong facilitation and classroom management skills and strategies.
  • You have familiarity and experience liaising with schools and Regional Centers for Education.
