Role


As Intermediate Camera Operator you operate cameras linked to the video image control system to conceive and develop shots and visual effects using original camera angles and compositions. You must meet and anticipate the programs desired objectives as well as artistic dramatic and other intentions. You also co-ordinate the setup and inspection of equipment under your control.


Key Tasks:

  • Conceive and develop shots and visual effects.

  • Prepare transport set up adjust and operate cameras and audio equipment.

  • Advise technical and production staff on production methods.

  • Review and apply technical plans and diagrams.

  • Ensure equipment availability and report any irregularities.

  • Co-ordinate filming logistics with the technical and production teams.

  • Guide as needed the work of other employees assigned to production.

  • Evaluate technical equipment and draft summary reports on its performance.

  • Perform technical quality control for deliverables taking corrective measures if necessary.

  • Take corrective action in the event of technical failure and inform the relevant people.

  • Attend planning or story meetings as needed.

  • Review or develop operating methods and technical standards.

  • Produce technical reports recording information in the appropriate files.

  • Perform site surveys to identify locations that meet production requirements.

  • Perform camera operator duties.

  • Report any breakdowns or defects in equipment.

  • Complete the necessary forms and documents to ensure proper follow-up.

  • Familiarize other employees with their duties and the work environment.

  • Carry out as needed related duties or the duties of another job classification.

Labour Relations:

  • Report to the appropriate supervisor or others depending on the assignment.

  • Coordinate the work of other employees as needed.

  • Maintain relationships internally and externally.


Job Requirements:

  • Education: College diploma (DCS) in electronics technology (audiovisual option) or other relevant field.

  • Experience: Five or more years experience required to ensure solid command of essential skills and knowledge.


Selection Criteria:

  • Theory tests.

  • Practical tests.

  • Interview.
