Assistant for Leadership Annual Giving-Office of Leadership Annual Giving


The Opportunity

The Assistant in the Office of Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) part of Cornells Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of a high-performing team dedicated to advancing Cornells unrestricted giving and leadership annual giving efforts. This position provides comprehensive administrative support contributing to the success of volunteer engagement solicitation programs communications and stewardship initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and organizational support for the LAG team.

  • Support the planning and execution of a premier alumni volunteer solicitation program.

  • Assist in the coordination of communications volunteer engagement and stewardship activities.

  • Participate in Giving Day efforts including logistical and administrative support.

  • Respond to a range of ad hoc requests and inquiries with professionalism and efficiency.

  • Perform general administrative tasks including expense processing reimbursement coordination and database support (e.g. list generation and data entry).

  • Serve as a first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders including alumni volunteers and campus partners offering front-line customer service and triaging inquiries as appropriate.

  • Exercise sound judgment in referring complex or non-routine matters to appropriate team members.

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of administrative tasks in collaboration with other LAG staff.

This is a full-time (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca NY. This position follows a 3:2 campus-to-home hybrid work arrangement. Wednesdays are a required in-office workday. This hybrid work arrangement is subject to change at any time. Typical work hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. This position will occasionally require availability for two to three evening or weekend events annually including mandatory participation during Reunion Weekend in June. Travel to events may be required once or twice a year and the role includes supporting virtual meetings as needed.

About the Office of Leadership Annual Giving

The Leadership Annual Giving teams mission is to promote a culture of philanthropy amongst alumni parents friends staff and students as we strive to realize Ezra Cornells vision of a university education attainable by any person and provide university leadership the freedom to create the greatest impact for our students with unrestricted flexible funds. The Assistant for Leadership Annual Giving provides broad-based administrative assistance to a dedicated and fast-paced team that is accountable for leadership annual giving to include the Cornell Annual Funds.

What We Need

We are seeking a team member who is organized detail-oriented collaborative and willing to learn. Additionally you will have:

  • An Associates degree and 2 to 4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.

  • Proven experience in planning and implementing successful events and projects.

  • Computer literacy proficient with Windows software packages and databases.

  • Strong interpersonal skills effective communication skills and collaborative and appropriate telephone and in person demeanor.

  • Excellent writing proofreading and editing skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/assignments work under pressure and meet competing and established deadlines.

  • Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to work well with others across various communication channels.

  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students faculty staff and community members.

If you possess these experiences and skills this may be the role for you! There are a few other qualifications we would view as incredibly helpful in this role to include:

  • Bachelors degree.

  • Experience in the engagement and development field.

  • Four years of professional office experience with a strong customer service element or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven experience supporting the work of Director level staff and a team.

  • Knowledge of Cornell and Experience with AA&D related tools and software i.e.; PeopleSoft OBIEE Tableau IModules etc is welcomed.
