Position Summary

This is a key leadership role in the Citys Water Waste & Environment department accountable for the operation maintenance and preservation of the Citys wastewater and stormwater collection systems. These critical services protect public health and support environmental stewardship while advancing safety reliability and climate resilience.

This position plays a critical role in safeguarding these vital services so they remain reliable efficient and sustainable for generations to come.

What Youll Lead
Youll oversee a team of supervisors coordinators and technical experts guiding the development and delivery of operational plans capital maintenance and emergency response strategies. From domestic and stormwater lift stations to underground sewer infrastructure your portfolio will directly protect public health the environment and community infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans and budgets aligned with City priorities.
  • Build high-performing teams with a focus on safety accountability and professional growth.
  • Oversee infrastructure inspection risk mitigation capital upgrades and emergency response.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders including citizens contractors developers and other levels of government.
  • Incorporate resource availability infrastructure needs (current and future) and citizen expectations into decision making and planning.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with City standards policies and collective agreements.
  • Lead effective responses to significant storm events spring melt/runoff and emergency repair situations.

What You Bring

  • Significant leadership experience in municipal infrastructure operations or civil engineering with a focus on public service delivery.
  • Expertise in wastewater/stormwater systems construction practices and environmental compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large teams complex budgets and to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills with a talent for guiding change and building excellence.
  • Certification in Wastewater Collection Level 4 (or ability to obtain).
