Hours: Full Time
Hourly Wage: $17.57 - 22.26 depending on experience

Job Summary:

The manager of the kitchen will run the daily operation of the kitchen/cafeteria in compliance with Kuna School District Child Nutrition (CNP) USDA local state and Federal policies procedures rules regulations and guidelines. The manager will be responsible for the supervision of a staff of employees and the implementation of the high standards of nutrition food production and student services.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties and responsibilities listed below
  • Good oral and written communication skills and basic math skills
  • Ability to utilize computer programs currently available in CNP operation
  • Train and supervise subordinates
  • Knowledge of health sanitation and food handling regulations
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Positive public relations skills.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform such school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for complete operation of individual school/kitchen in compliance with federal state and local laws rules regulations and good management standards.
  • Order food and supplies according to established specifications determined by menu volume and student needs. Accurately complete inventory of food and supplies. Assure that all supplies are on hand for the days preparation before needed.
  • Inspects food deliveries; maintains sanitary standards for the receipt storage preparation and service of food; inspects all food service areas for cleanliness; inspects food preparation; monitors temperatures on freezer and refrigerator and food; inspects machinery and orders maintenance when necessary.
  • Confers with the Director regarding child nutrition program needs and menu changes for the purpose of maintaining established food quality standards related to taste appearance and good nutrition and sees that menus developed by the child nutrition director are followed without deviation.
  • Opens Child Nutrition facilities (e.g. opening gates doors turning on equipment lights alarms etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the facilities are ready for staff and outside deliveries.
  • Plans schedules directs and supervises the work of food service employees to achieve efficiency in labor usage.
  • Supervise instruct train and evaluate child nutrition personnel in performing their assigned tasks. Recommend employees for appointment reappointment and transfer.
  • Assures that sanitation and safety practices in all phases of the child nutrition program meet the established standards developed by the Child Nutrition Program office Central District Health and Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
  • Assume responsibility for checking that all equipment in the kitchen is in safe working condition along with supervising and instructing personnel in the correct and safe use cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of production/meals count to meet USDA requirements.
  • Communicates with site administrators staff parents and others for the purpose of providing information and/ or direction regarding Child Nutrition Program operations.
  • Participate in all promotions/theme days etc. which are designed to improve kitchen/student relationships and increase participation.
  • Attend classes training and meetings pertaining to the child nutrition program.
  • Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
  • Deal with students parents staff and others in a positive encouraging manner.
  • Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
