Summary:
Provide Network and technical support to all campuses and departments. Develop maintain and monitor all district local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) for security cameras fire & security alarms and intercoms. To operate monitor and maintain intercommunication security and fire alarm systems. Responsible for installation testing and oversight of all security camera network hardware software and related equipment.
Qualifications:
Associates Degree with emphasis in Networking Computer Maintenance or equivalent networking security related education.
CompTIA Network Plus Certification
Preferred- Bachelors Degree in Administration Technology
Experience:
Three (3) years experience in networking environment
Three (3) years experiences in configuration of switches servers power over internet devices wireless controllers and software related to network equipment cameras and intercommunication systems.
Three (3) years experience in installation configuration of surveillance cameras.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Networking troubleshooting hardware and software
- Ability to learn new hardware and software with minimum of training
- Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware
- Ability to configure switches POE devices servers and other IT Equipment
- Ability to install maintain repair and upgrade security cameras and peripherals throughout the district.
- Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs
- Knowledge of intercommunication security and fire alarm systems
- Knowledge of state and federal rules governing security alarms fire alarms and intercommunication systems
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to perform duties and comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education and local board policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration
- Serve as a resource person for Principals Directors and Police Officers
- Design and maintain district Vlans MDFs and IDFs network maps for security cameras fire/security alarms and intercoms.
- Manage all cameras fire/security alarms and intercoms communication implementation and maintenance.
- Coordinate and perform preventative maintenance services for all cameras fire/security alarms and intercoms.
- Keep records of all work orders related to the Network Technician position.
- Maintain and update inventory for all cameras fire/security alarms and intercoms.
- Assist in troubleshooting any issues related to slow performances and network issues.
- Maintain and update cameras users accounts using active directory
- Point of contact for issues at campuses involving cameras video fire/security alarms intercoms and elevators.
- Contact person for awarded vendors to remediate issues at campuses.
Installation/Repairs
- Design install configure implement and maintain district wide cameras video software fire/security alarms and intercoms.
- Setup and install network hardware and software including cabling.
- Install and test any current updates for software.
- Operate all tools including mechanical and electrical equipment entailed to complete work duties.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on alarm systems
Support
- Provide training and support to Donna ISD Personnel
- Maintain current knowledge on cameras video software fire/security alarms and intercoms.
- Serve as liaison for software and hardware vendors to maintain appropriate product support.
- Prioritize requests accordingly.
- Compile physical files of state federal and local yearly inspections.
- Maintain a physical file of department maintenance plan.
- Respond to Emergency calls as needed.
Network Security
- Develop and implement a district wide security system for all cameras video software fire/security alarms and intercoms by maintaining network internet access and user accounts.
- Effectively implement video management system software Microsoft server operating system and active directory for all security camera users.
- Design and implement backup procedures to ensure all cameras video software fire/security alarms and Intercoms on a weekly basis.
- Oversee backups and restore district cameras video software fire/security alarms and Intercoms as needed.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan.
Policy Reports and Law
- Compile maintain and file all physical computerized reports records and required documents.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education and local board policies.
Other

Physical Demands
Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk talk hear sitting climbing stooping bending and kneeling. Frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment are required of this employee. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and depth perception.
This job requires the ability to hand and balance multiple demands at the same time. This position also requires meeting deadlines with sever time constraints interact with staff and enduring occasional irregular or extended work hours. This employee may be required to be on call 24 hours a day. The employee must maintain emotional control under stress.
Work Environment:
The employee regularly works outdoors. The noise level is usually loud depending upon the location and the activity being conducted.
