Center for Bone & Joint Surgery is a multi-location medical practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the bodys musculoskeletal system. Our locations feature a staff of highly trained orthopedic surgeons each with a specific area of expertise. We offer a team approach to your care and provides a variety of services right on campus designed for your convenience and ensuring an outstanding continuum of care. These include on-site X-ray on-site MRI on-site physical therapy and aquatic therapy.
As Center for Bone & Joint Surgery continues to grow we are looking for an Orthopedic Technician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- DME application and removal.
- Educates the patient on the proper care of casts/splints and proper usage of the DME items.
- Responsible for ordering and restocking DME items as well as clinical supplies. Orders and fits custom orthotics per providers orders.
- Fit and apply splints and braces (DME) as requested by provider.
- Measure order and fit custom osteoarthritis braces.
- Assists in the clinic with non-clinical tasks during downtime as assigned by management.
- Clean and stock the cast room and cast cart ordering supplies as needed.
- Clean and stock the DME room keeping an accurate inventory of all products and appliances ordering when necessary to keep inventory at constant levels in both offices.
- Document all activity in patients chart and bill accordingly.
- Order and maintain all over-the-counter supplies.
- Meet with clinical supply representatives periodically to ensure best vendor pricing.
- Answer patient calls emails or messages left by patients regarding care or appliances.
- DME authorizations.
- Responsible for scanning and attaching any documents or forms related to DME order.
- Performs related work as required and other projects and duties as assigned by management
- Dispensing work comp medications.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA compliance
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: College or comparable work experience Completion of Sports Medicine Orthopedic Technician training program or Medical Assistant program or at least six months of previous job-related experience with a medical facility preferred.
SKILLS:
- Medical Terminology.
- Basic typing and keyboarding skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with customer service.
- Familiarity with computers and other office equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities.
- Must be able to act calmly and effectively in busy or stressful situations.
- Knowledge of insurance plans and procedures.
- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures including standards for safety attendance punctuality and personal appearance.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires occasional lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending reaching and repetitive hand movements standing walking squatting and sitting.
