About ThedaCare!
Summary :
Serves as the liaison between ThedaCare and community EMS partners to identify educational opportunities for EMS and improve quality outcomes for the services provided in prehospital care. Review EMS and ED records to identify opportunities for improvement. This position will support the outreach requirements of ThedaCares trauma stroke and chest pain programs as well as other service areas as necessary. Works under the direction of the ThedaStar program manager and in collaboration with system emergency departments. This position has extensive contact with the EMS community.
Job Description:
**This position will serve as the coordinator for all ThedaCare sites. There will be travel involved. Hours primarily days with the exceptions of events/meetings that may take place outside of normal business hours**
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate and facilitate communications between EMS partners and ThedaCares systems of care including emergency medicine trauma services cardiology (STEMI) and stroke/neurology
- Coordinates with the above service areas to set triggers for automatic case review along with quality metrics and collects data to track progress towards system quality goals; communicate these goals as well as progress to EMS providers
- Hold scheduled office hours to provide informal opportunities for communication and feedback from EMS providers
- Coordinate and assure the return of EMS agency equipment from the tertiary centers in Appleton and Neenah where equipment may have been transported with the patient by air medical or other services providing interfacility transport. Maintain a current list of regional EMS agencies and contact information for each service
- Enhances EMS quality improvement initiatives by providing patient outcomes and participating in case reviews
- Participate in scheduled outreach events involving EMS including STEMI stroke trauma and ThedaStar
- Solicits feedback from regional EMS providers to identify areas of need that ThedaCare could augment or help fill
- Represent Froedtert ThedaCare Health at EMS-related conferences at the local regional state and national levels. Participate in the community as a guest speaker on EMS-related issue and perform other duties as assigned
- Observe transitions of care between EMS & ED staff to identify opportunities for improvement
- Maintains knowledge of current State of Wisconsin and National Registry requirements for maintenance of certification for all levels of EMS providers
- Facilitate and participate in critical incident stress management (CISM) debriefs as needed
- Collaborates with leadership to develop and maintain an EMS Continuing Education (CE) curriculum. This may be done in collaboration with the Froedtert EMS Program Manager
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years full-time EMS and/or Emergency Department experience
- Basic Life Support (Healthcare Provider) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certifications
- Current WI paramedic licensure / eligibility for WI paramedic licensure or current WI RN licensure
Physical Demands
- Ability to move freely (standing stooping walking bending pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
- Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
Work Environment
Non-Clinical Staff:
- Normally works in climate-controlled office environment
- Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space
- Use of computers throughout work day
- Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands wrist and fingers
Clinical Patient Facing:
- Occasional exposure to sharp objects and instruments
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasional high noise level in work environment.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases hazardous materials and pharmacological agents.
- Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients.
