Job Description
The Fab Shop Materials Manager is responsible for all materials receiving verification inventory documentation communication with vendors laydown tracking logistics and shipping in support of Sun Mechanical fabrication operations. The position reports directly to the Pre-Construction Manager and collaborates with Purchasing Superintendents Project Managers CAD Manager and the Fab Shop Management Team.
Job Duties Include but are not limited to:
- Unload materials
- Verify the quantity and quality of incoming materials
- Document separate and track all orders
- Maintain and organize the yard
- Organize materials by individual project in the yard including material staging ahead of the fabrication schedule
- Organize and inventory stock materials while keeping a well-maintained/updated account of stock
- Handle back orders and returns
- Staging and coordination of completed pre-fabricated spools
- Operation of yard equipment to maneuver materials (I.E. Forklift & 10000 LB Forklift)
- Set up fabrication deliveries and help load deliveries to hit on-site scheduled deadlines
- Update all tracking logs
- Collaborate with internal departments to locate any missing packages fix incorrect deliveries and replace damaged products
- Other duties as assigned by management
Skills and Qualifications
- Organizational management is critical
- Discipline and attention to detail in a fast moving environment is critical
- Strong personality to deliver fab shop plan and schedule is critical
- Basic Math skills required
- Computer software experience required: Excel Word Outlook Sequel Database etc.
- Communication skills - ability to develop working rapport with Suppliers Venders Project Managers Field Employees etc.
- Attention to details and number accuracy is required
- Ability to understand work orders and invoices is required
- Knowledge of plumbing and mechanical materials is preferred
- Inventory management experience preferred
- Forklift experience preferred
