JOB DESCRIPTION
Operations Manager – Transport Logistics & Transit (Import-Export)
As part of a recruitment drive for our client a key player in the transit transport and logistics sector we are seeking anOperations Manager.
The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for overseeing all customs declaration operations covering maritime air and land logistics activities. This strategic role requires strong expertise in CEMAC customs regulations with proven experience particularly in Chad and Cameroon.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management of Logistics & Transit Flows
o Supervise daily transport (national and international) logistics and import/export transit operations.
o Optimize delivery shipment and receipt planning.
o Ensure compliance of customs documents and CEMAC procedures.
2. Field Team Management & Activity Coordination
o Supervise teams (drivers customs agents warehouse staff declarants etc.).
o Organize schedules distribute workloads and ensure proper task execution.
o Conduct training and monitor team performance.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Customs Oversight (CEMAC)
o Ensure adherence to customs transport and safety regulations (CEMAC code WTO rules Incoterms).
o Act as the liaison with customs and port authorities (Cameroonian Customs GUCE MAGZI etc.).
4. Client Relations & Reporting
o Manage relationships with clients and partners (carriers freight forwarders suppliers).
o Address specific requests resolve disputes and maintain high service standards.
o Generate operational dashboards analyze logistics KPIs and propose improvements.
5. Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization
o Propose solutions to optimize costs lead times and service quality.
o Implement efficient operational procedures and digital tracking tools.
Desired Profile:
Education:Bachelor’s to Master’s degree in Transit Logistics & Transport or a related field.
Experience:Minimum 7 years in a similar role with strong knowledge of the CEMAC region particularly Cameroon.
Key Skills:
Proficiency in customs procedures (Sydonia GUCE CEMAC).
Strong knowledge of Incoterms customs regimes transit and import/export documents.
Ability to lead a team manage priorities and work under pressure.
Solid negotiation planning and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in IT tools (Excel TMS WMS).
Professional English proficiency preferred.
