Job Description

Primary School Bursar

Employer: Waverton Primary School

Salary: Grade 7 28770 - 32076 (Actual salary based on 32 hours per week term-time only pro rata)

Location: Waverton Primary School Common Lane Waverton CH37QT

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 32 hours per Week during Term-Time plus 5 INSET days
Working Pattern: Part Time/Term Time. Start Time: 8:30am. Flexible Working: 4 or 5 Days a Week
DBS Check: Enhanced

Are you a highly organised financially skilled and self-motivated professional looking to play a key role in a friendly and supportive school community We are seeking an individual who shares our vision and commitment to securing the very best outcomes for every child in our care. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and work closely with the Headteacher Governors and school staff on the financial and administrative management of our busy and vibrant primary school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the schools budget and financial planning
  • Managing the cashless payment system for the school and wrap around care
  • Preparing for budget meetings and providing financial reports
  • Procurement management: including processing orders and invoices in line with established financial procedures
  • Liaising with contractors suppliers and external agencies
  • Work alongside the School Administration Officer and provide front of house duties to parents and visitors as required
  • All aspects of HR management: including adherence to robust recruitment procedures and processing of staff contracts absence and overtime/expense claims
  • Leading on health and safety risk assessments and compliance
  • Managing non-teaching staff to ensure their effective deployment for the benefit of the school.

What Were Looking For

  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience in finance or business administration (ideally in a school or public sector setting)
  • Strong organisational and ICT skills including financial systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive solution-focused approach
  • A strong understanding of confidentiality safeguarding and school values
