Job Description
Job Title: Advanced UNIX System Programmer
Location: Tennessee
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of current experience in this job class
Job Summary:
The Advanced UNIX System Programmer is responsible for the installation maintenance and support of UNIX-based operating systems communications software database packages compilers utility programs and associated systems software. This role plays a critical part in ensuring system reliability performance and integration across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities:

Install configure and maintain UNIX operating systems and supporting software.

Develop and modify system-level programs to enhance performance stability and compatibility.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to operating systems communications middleware database platforms and utility programs.

Collaborate with vendors and state support teams to swiftly restore services during disruptions.

Analyze system and application software interactions to identify and mitigate incompatibility or performance issues.

Perform system capacity planning and performance tuning.

Evaluate test and recommend systems software and tools to enhance infrastructure capabilities.

Provide technical documentation and support for both users and IT teams.
Qualifications:
-
Proficiency in UNIX system programming including shell scripting and C/C.

Strong experience with systems-level debugging and performance optimization.

Familiarity with common UNIX variants (e.g. AIX Solaris HP-UX Linux).

Experience in integrating and maintaining communication protocols and database systems.

Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams under high-pressure situations.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
