What you will do:
The Manager Entertainment Programming is responsible for leading the development and execution of entertainment programming across Cineplexs Exhibition and LBE venues. This role will focus on building and managing relationships with talent buyers and talent promoters to provide and oversee the execution of live events and entertainment offerings across all venues. The role will also provide oversight of content creation and scheduling through the content coordinator to support the broader entertainment strategy in collaboration with senior leadership. This position plays a key role in enhancing guest experiences driving attendance and maximizing profitability.
Note: This is a hybrid role based out of the Cineplex Head Office at 1303 Yonge St Toronto.
Key Responsibilities
- Entertainment Programming & Partnerships
- In partnership with the VP they will take lead the development and approved execution of regional and national entertainment programming strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with talent buyers and talent performers to secure high-quality entertainment offerings.
- Manage third-party service providers including contract venue bookers and both internal/external AV technicians.
- Oversee the planning promotion and execution of live events underplays and signature experiences by the Entertainment Supervisors.
- Manage any calendar conflicts with other venue events (e.g. group bookings) to maximize overall revenue for the venues
- Ensure all events comply with Cineplex brand standards/identity licensing health and safety and local regulations
- And any other tasks that are assigned by the VP.
- Budgeting & Reporting
- Support the VP in developing and providing feedback for annual entertainment budgets and strategic plans.
- Provide input to the VP regarding capital investment decisions related to entertainment and experiential offerings.
- On a regular basis monitor and manage P&L for entertainment programming across all venues.
- Analyze event performance and provide post-event reporting and insights to all interested parties determined by the VP.
- Content & Digital Experience Oversight
- Oversee the content development and scheduling by the content coordinator for in venue digital signage & screens Cineplex websites and social media platforms.
- Ensure alignment of content with brand identity and promotional goals.
- Manage the content coordinator responsible for content development and scheduling.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team including content coordinator entertainment supervisors and AV techs.
- Scheduled weekly 1:1 meetings and team meetings as necessary
- Scheduled bi-weekly/monthly meetings with Talent buyers to provide direction and feedback on programming
- Collaborate with Marketing Operations and other teams to ensure cohesive execution of the events.
- Champion Cineplex values and foster a culture of collaboration innovation and guest-centricity.
- Other Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits and audit event execution to ensure quality and consistency in entertainment delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Certification
- Degree or diploma in Entertainment Management Event Management or related field
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in entertainment programming & booking venue & calendar management in multi-site environment
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- In-depth understanding of the entertainment industry (performance types genres trends familiarity with talent buyers promoters booking processes etc. ) with relevant programming knowledge
- Knowledge of event scheduling and venue operations
- Competent in using scheduling tools and managing multi-venue calendars
- Strong understanding of AV production digital content strategy and event marketing.
- Proven experience managing budgets contracts and vendor relationships.
- Excellent communication negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with digital signage platforms (e.g. Broadsign).
- Ability to work evenings weekends and travel as required.
