Position Description

Job Title: Director of Curriculum

FLSA/Job Status: Exempt/Full Time

Reports to: Principal


Position Summary: The Director of Curriculum is a key academic leader responsible for the development implementation and ongoing evaluation of the schools curriculum. This individual will ensure academic rigor spiritual integration and alignment with diocesan standards while supporting both traditional academic pathways and Classical Catholic education principles. The Director of Curriculum will work collaboratively with faculty department heads and administration to assess and promote instructional excellence and student achievement across all disciplines. This is a full-time 12 month/year position.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and evaluate the schools curriculum in all subject areas to accomplish the goals of the schools strategic plan while ensuring alignment with diocesan standards Catholic identity and current educational best practices.

  • Provide leadership in the integration of a Classical Catholic education model where appropriate including the liberal arts Socratic method Great Books and a focus on virtue and moral formation.

  • Facilitate professional development for faculty in both traditional and classical methodologies.

  • Lead curriculum mapping and the evaluation of academic programs to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment.

  • Collaborate with department chairs to assess instructional materials select textbooks/resources and ensure consistency in academic expectations.

  • Promote the use of data to drive instructional improvement and address student learning needs.

  • Support the accreditation process and ensure compliance with state and diocesan academic guidelines.

  • Guide new teacher onboarding related to curriculum pedagogy and Catholic identity.

  • Serve as an instructional coach and mentor to faculty promoting innovation while upholding the schools Catholic mission.

  • Work with staff leadership to support advanced academic programs including Honors Advanced Placement (AP) and dual enrollment opportunities.

Additional Conditions of Employment

Candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing have a deep knowledge of the Catholic faith and agree to live by the tenets of the Catholic faith including in lifestyle and on personal social media.


Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction Educational Leadership or a related field (preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience preferably in a Catholic school setting.

  • Experience with or strong understanding of Classical Catholic education philosophy and practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage curriculum initiatives and instructional improvement.

  • Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong leadership skills with a collaborative and mission-driven approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in curriculum design and faculty development in both traditional and classical education models.

  • Familiarity with accreditation processes and educational data analysis.

  • Previous administrative or leadership experience at the secondary level.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job employees are regularly required to sit stand walk and stoop. Must be able to talk and hear both in person and by telephone. Use of hands to perform standard classroom duties and use office equipment is required. Reaching and lifting up to 10 pounds is also required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by the means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities.


Working Conditions
School office setting; Full-time 12-month position with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
