Position Description
Job Title: Dean of Students
Job Status: Exempt/Full- Time
Reports to: Head of School
Job Function: Administer maintain and provide discipline for student behavior as well as coordinate student activities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administration
- Deputy Administrator and serves as administrator in charge of school operations in the absence of the Head of School
- Advisor to the Head of School
- Assist with the Budget
- Assist with school Assemblies & Activities
- Assist with school website - general/athletic calendar and announcements/posts (lunch menu)
- Assist with Staff Handbook
- Coordinate and schedule use of the school car
- Provides Out of School Activities Consent Form to Staff & Students
- Participate and assist in the paper screening interviewing and hiring of new staff
- School Safety & Security
- Coordinate security personnel for parking lot and building entry
- School locks and keys
- Operates and oversees security cameras
- Operates and assigns key fobs
- Assigns faculty and staff with keys
- Coordinates Fire Drills & Emergency Practices (lock downs/evacuations)
- Public Relations with local police department fire department and EMS
- Student Wellness
- Head of Crisis Team
- Assists with Marians Safe Schools account - assign faculty/staff/coaches
- Coordinator with Catholic Charities counselor
- Coordinator with Caron Student Assistance Program counselor - vaping issues
- Student Services
- Assist with Student Handbook
- Student Lockers
- Student Insurance
- Student Transportation
- Assigns dress down days
- Oversees attendance and assigns truancy warnings/meetings/citations
- Manage and maintain records of student attendance
- Provides collects and reviews classroom sign out sheets
- Facilities Manager
- Supervisor of Maintenance & Custodians
- Coordinator of gymnasium and school facilities
- Student & Staff parking
- Coordinate student summer help program
- Coordinate summer activities and work projects
- Coordinate annual inspections
- Coordinate the storage of classroom textbooks/books
- External Student Activities
- Schuylkill County Youth Summit Advisor
- Schuylkill County Youth Conference Advisor
- Schuylkill County Leadership Conference Advisor
- Schuylkill County Drug & Alcohol Advisor
- CAN DO Student Action Advisor
- Technology Coordinators Liaison
- Schuylkill County Safe Schools Coalition Liaison
- Schuylkill County Behavioral Health/Student Life Committee Liaison
- Discipline
- Administer maintain and provide discipline for behavior problems
- The arbiter in extreme cases
- Supervisor of entire discipline department
- Reviews MMS conduct referrals and issues detentions/ISS/OSS/Disciplinary Probation
- Coordinates and assigns detentions
- Notifies parents about detentions/ISS/OSS/Disciplinary Probation
- Assigns detention reflection assignment
- Provides student conduct grades to the Students Office
- Conducts parental meetings
- Receives serious student problem referrals from teachers
- Consults with Head of School and Guidance Counselor concerning serious student problems
Additional Conditions of Employment:
Candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing have a deep knowledge of the Catholic faith and agree to live by the tenets of the Catholic faith including in lifestyle and on personal social media.
Educational Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree (Masters degree preferred)
- PA Teachers Certification required
- 3-5 years of experience in a High School setting.
Other Requirements:
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources.
- Knowledge of student support programs and services; ability to plan assess and evaluate programs. Ability to develop plan and implement short- and long-range goals.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job employees are regularly required to sit stand walk and stoop. Must be able to talk and hear both in person and by telephone. Use of hands to perform standard classroom duties and use office equipment is required. Reaching and lifting up to 10 pounds is also required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by the means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities.
Working Conditions: Normal school office setting Full-time7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. May be required to assist with evenings and weekends is necessary for donor meetings and special events.
